Born in Milan and graduated in industrial design from the Politecnico. Always seeking new stimuli, he immediately came into contact with numerous technical and design studios, where he was able to deepen his engineering know-how and develop his own aesthetic vision.
James di Marco graduated with honors in set design from the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera in Milan in 2001, subsequently earning two master’s degrees in design from the Politecnico di Milano. Since 2004, he has collaborated with Caleido, for whom he designs and engineers the “Fine Design” and “Metacrilati” radiator lines and oversees the company’s image by designing trade show stands and showrooms until 2008. One of his most representative products, “Honey” radiator for Caleido, is on display in the permanent collection of the MAD Museum of Arts and Design in New York.
Gabriele Buratti, architect and professor of interior architecture at the Faculty of Design of the Polytechnic University of Milan (2003-2010), and Oscar Buratti, architect, form the architecture and design studio BURATTI ARCHITETTI.
The studio works across different project scales in a transversal manner, ranging from the architecture of buildings and urban areas to interiors, from furniture and object design to the setup of exhibitions and showrooms, in an intense and varied professional journey where themes, places and typologies, companies and people, materials and processes intertwine and blend together.
Francesco Lucchese graduated in architecture from the Politecnico di Milano in March 1985 and began his career by receiving the 1st ADI prize with the ‘Traslazione’ project, a folding chair presented for Gruppo Industriale Busnelli.
Today, an established designer, he continues his design research and career, working in parallel with his studio and his professorship at the Politecnico di Milano.
Jean-Michel Wilmotte is an architect, city planner and designer who has been a member of the French Academy of Fine Arts since 2015. Born in 1948 in Soissons, France, he graduated in interior design from the prestigious Camondo School in Paris and then opened his studio Wilmotte & Associés in 1975.
Today, the architecture studio and the design studio Wilmotte & Industries involve 250 professionals including architects, city planners, designers, museographers and interior designers of 27 different nationalities.
In every project, from the simplest to the most spectacular, the studio develops an innovative and sustainable approach, with particular attention to landscape, light, materials and finishes, always respecting the historical and local context in which it operates. Today Jean-Michel Wilmotte and his team oversee over 100 projects in 23 countries, particularly in luxury hospitality, the cultural and industrial sectors. Since 2010, the studio has been recognized as one of the most important in the world of architecture and design according to WA100, the study published annually by British Building Design Magazine, which ranked it 56th in 2020.
Marco Piva, a graduate of the Politecnico di Milano, was a founding member of Studio Dada Associati in 1977, one of the most renowned design firms of the Radical Design period.
In 1990, he opened the firm that still bears his name today and embodies his design philosophy.
Assiduous research into the formal and functional characteristics of spaces, technologies, and materials—developed with great attention to the environment—are the founding elements of the firm’s planning and design philosophy. Furthermore, the firm pursues design continuity between architecture and interior design, a strategic component for the development of successful projects.
An architect and designer, he lives and works in Seregno. His early professional experiences saw him involved in the design of major works across various sectors, ranging from architecture to the interior design of large common spaces in the automotive industry, as well as interior design for trains and sleeping cars.
Since 1986, through his own Product Design studio, he has designed for biomedical equipment companies. In the furniture sector, he collaborates with several companies of established international importance, such as Rimadesio, Poliform, and Ernestomeda, as a designer and Art Director, managing the product in its entirety—from conception and engineering to visual communication. He has received numerous professional awards at an international level.
Massimo Iosa Ghini (Bologna, 1959) participated in the innovative action carried out by design avant-gardes in the 1980s, founding the Bolidismo cultural movement and being part of Ettore Sottsass’s Memphis group. Today he is considered one of the most prominent Italian architects and designers at an international level.
In 1990 he opened the Iosa Ghini Associati studio, which today operates in Milan, Bologna and Miami, developing projects for major international groups and developers and handling the design of residential, commercial and museum architectural spaces, cultural installations, areas and structures dedicated to public transport, as well as retail projects for international groups. In 2013 the Milan Triennale dedicated an entire retrospective to him “From the beginnings to today’s sustainability”. Appointed Ambassador of Italian Design and the Red Dot Network as well as Full Member of the Leonardo Committee and the Accademia Clementina, Massimo Iosa Ghini received the Marconi Prize for Creativity in 2015.
